Colorcon is a world leader in the development, supply and support of formulated products for the pharmaceutical industry. They came to us with a brief to create a more modern working environment delivering a complete redesign, refurbishment and fit out of their laboratory and adjacent office spaces.
Our team began by undertaking a detailed workplace and lab assessment study to understand the work flows of their laboratory team and determine how the available space could be utilised to meet Colorcon’s specific business needs.
We increased the amount of flexible working spaces, ones that could be repurposed and reconfigured for a wide variety of use. While in the laboratory space we looked to create well-lit workspace designed to increase productivity while upholding regulatory compliance. Throughout the design the choice of materials used in finishing set a peculiar mood of medical cleanliness in the interior while upholding the maturity of the Colorcon brand.
Sustainability was a key theme that ran through the project, and along with aiming for zero waste to landfill, this was the first ever project to be fully applied to AIS 10-Point sustainable project criteria. Key activities included a sustainability workshop. A pre occupancy survey was carried out, and a web-based post occupancy survey has been developed and will be completed by staff 3 months after occupation.
